E' importante che ognuno di noi firmi l'appello di saveinternet radio.
IL giorno 8 Maggio 2007 e' quello che verra' ricordato come il "Day of Silence". E' il giorno in cui tutte le Web Radio degli
Stati Uniti e molte altre di tutto il Mondo, interromperanno le trasmissioni per 24 ore in forma di protesta contro la decisione della CRB, Copyright Royalty Board, di aumentare in maniera spropositata l'importo delle Royality
versate per il webcasting radiofonico. Le attuali tariffe, che gia' sono il doppio di quelle applicate a emittenti satellitari e terrestri, verranno aumentate a partire da un minimo del 300% a un massimo del 1200%!
In base a questi aumenti, si calcola che una piccola emittente amatoriale che fa pochi ascolti giornalieri e senza scopo di lucro e nessun introito pubblicitario, dovra' versare ogni anno la cifra di circa 4000$ (quattromila dollari) per i diritti musicali!

Molte Stazioni Radio negli States hanno gia' chiuso e altre lo faranno nei prossimi giorni perche' e' assolutamente impensabile
pagare importi cosi' alti per un semplice hobby!

io ho doppia cittadinanza, quindi sono anche americano. resto allibito a quello che ho letto. in america vigeva una legge "abbastanza" liberale a riguardo le tariffe applicate a chi riproduce musica coperta e protetta da diritti autorali, soprattutto se non a scopo di lucro, ovvero non-profit. questo anche perche' le associazioni tutelanti i copyrights sono tante (private) e non costituiscono monopolio come invece avviene con la siae, pur essendo la CRB (istituzione federale con sede in d.c.) l'unica col potere di legiferare.

The Copyright Royalty Board (CRB) has officially posted its ruling on Internet royalty rates in the Federal Register. However, the organization has pushed back the due date for royalty payments to kick in, from May 15 to July 15. The publication of this information also allows the 30 day period for appeals to officially begin. NPR is slated to file an appeal in this time frame.

The SaveNetRadio organization calls the decision "welcome news for webcasters...artists...and listeners," and notes that it will "spend the next 45 days educating Members of Congress and their staffs about the incredible diversity of programming Internet radio offers us all. We will set the ticking clock back 45 days and continue the fight to free Internet radio from these devastating fee increases."

Yesterday (May 1), SaveNetRadio led a march on Washington, D.C., as webcasters, musicians and label representatives met with members of Congress to discuss the Internet Radio Equality Act. Further actions in the nation's capital are set for today.
