The 2024 United States presidential election marks the 60th quadrennial presidential election, set to take place on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. On this day, voters will cast their ballots to elect a president and vice president for a four-year term. President Joe Biden, a Democrat, is seeking re-election. His predecessor, Donald Trump, a Republican, is also seeking re-election for a second, nonconsecutive term.
The upcoming U.S. presidential election will be the first to take place following the reapportionment of votes in the United States Electoral College as a result of the 2020 United States census. If the outcome of the 2020 election were to remain unchanged (a scenario unprecedented in presidential election history), Democrats would hold 303 electoral votes compared to Republicans’ 235 in 2024.
