How to watch Vatican Conclave in live stream , election new Pope
The Conclave is the solemn and confidential procedure by which the Catholic Church elects a new Pope. The cardinal electors, all of whom are under the age of 80, gather in the Sistine Chapel in complete isolation, with no contact with the outside world, to vote in secret. The election requires a qualified two-thirds majority; in the current case, 89 out of 133 votes are needed.
The Phases of the Conclave
“Pro Eligendo Pontifice” Mass: A liturgical celebration that officially opens the Conclave.
Entrance into the Sistine Chapel: The cardinals take an oath of secrecy and isolate themselves from the outside world.
Voting: Up to four ballots may be held each day (two in the morning and two in the afternoon).
Smoke Signals: After each ballot, smoke is released from the Sistine Chapel chimney—black if no Pope has been elected, white if a new Pope has been chosen.
“Habemus Papam” Announcement: Once elected, the new Pontiff accepts the role and is announced to the world from the balcony of St. Peter’s Basilica.
